Thermozodium esakii is a contested species and genus of water bear (phylum Tardigrada), which is the only member of the similarly-contested family Thermozodiidae, order Thermozodia, and class Mesotardigrada. The only known specimen was collected in Japan in 1937, from a site later destroyed by an earthquake, and the type specimen was also later lost.[1]
