The sing sing or guomna is a cryptid reported from Senegal, combining the features of a feline and a canine. It is said to have a head like a wolf, a brindled coat like that of a spotted hyena (Crocuta crocuta), but unspotted, a short ringed tail, and non-retractable claws. It is stealthy, fast, and tenacious, and is greatly feared by local hunters.[1]
Karl Shuker argues that it may be the striped hyena (Hyaena hyaena), which is known in Senegal. The striped hyena's nocturnal behaviour may have inspired fear in local people, turning it into a more monstrous animal in their eyes.[1]
