The mokomokaiamarutewareaitu (Maori: "shrunken head of Maru-te-whare-aitu") was a cryptid frog reported from Mana Island, in New Zealand's Cook Strait. According to the Maori informants of missionary Richard Taylor, who referred to it as a "bullfrog," it was the size of a young hen, and its tadpoles grew to more than 1 ft (30 cm) long.[1]
