The long (龍, Wade-Giles: "lung"), also called Chinese dragon, Asian dragon, or East Asian dragon, is a legendary creature in Chinese folklore,[1] as well as a rare cryptid.[2]
Although regarded as mythical, there are a number of sightings on record, including several from the modern period. Sightings usually depict the long as a marine animal, although a few describe it as a supernatural creature flying through the air, like the legendary animal, without wings.[2]
