The following is a list of lake cryptids found in Europe. The list is sorted by region
United Kingdom[]
Loch Ness Monster[]
The Loch Ness Monster or Nessie is a longneck reported in Loch Ness in Scotland. The cryptid is usually described as a long necked plesiosaurian-like animal. Although sightings are usually traced back to St. Columba sighting a large serpent in 580 AD, this sighting actually took place in the nearby River Ness. Most sightings started during the year 1933, when a man and his wife spotted a large animal in the Loch with two humps. Another sighting that year involved a couple spotting Nessie crossing the road in front of them.[1]

Storsjoodjuret[]
The Storsjoodjuret (meaning Great Monster or Storjon) is a Swedish lake monster. It's described as log-shaped and swimming rapidly. Size estimates range from 9 to 24 feet (2.7-7.3m) in length. It's said to make a strange sound that resembles two pieces of wood clashing against each other. A group called the Östersund Society for the Scientific Investigation of Lake Storsjon stated that sightings date back to 1635.[2]
