Lee Frank is an American[1] writer, producer, and Fortean who was a member of the Loch Ness Investigation Bureau and a participant in the Academy of Applied Sciences expeditions at Loch Ness. He later investigated bigfoot sightings in the United States and Canada.[2]
Cryptozoological work[]
Frank served on the Loch Ness Investigation Bureau during the 1970s. Later joining Robert Rines' Academy of Applied Sciences,[3] which captured alleged photographs of the Loch Ness monster, Frank was field monitor and chief scuba diver on two expeditions. While admitting that many alleged Loch Ness monster photographs have turned out to be hoaxes, Frank declared himself impressed by witness accounts of the cryptid.[2]
Frank has also led dozens of bigfoot expeditions, in Canada (British Columbia) and the United States (Tennessee and New Jersey).[2] The Canadian Broadcasting Company sponsored one to British Columbia, where Frank met with noted hominologists Rene Dahinden and John Green. Frank owns an alleged sample of bigfoot hair, but testing has proved inconclusive. He has contributed to The Info Journal and High Times, and has appeared on Monsters! Mysteries or Myths? (1974),[4] Coast to Coast AM (2008),[2] and Unexplained with George Noory (2008).[5]
Other work[]
Following his work on Loch Ness and bigfoot, Frank has has also investigated a wide variety of non-cryptozoological paranormal and ufological phenomena in the U.K. and U.S.,[2] including corpse lights, ghosts, "phantom soccer balls," demons, and the work of Aleister Crowley at Loch Ness. He told journalist Dan Greenburg that "Loch Ness is a very weird place and there are far more sinister things going on than the Loch Ness Monster".[1] He also has an interest in non-paranormal mysteries, such as alleged pre-Columbian migrations of Old World cultures to North America.[6]
