J. Richard Greenwell (1942 – 1 November 2005) was an English cryptozoologist and explorer.[1] He participated in several expeditions in search of various cryptids, including the mokele-mbembe in the Democratic Republic of the Congo with Roy P. Mackal in 1981; the ri in New Ireland with Roy Wagner; the onza in Mexico; and the yeren in China with Frank E. Poirier.[2] He was also, alongisde Bernard Heuvelmans and Roy P. Mackal, one of the founders of the International Society of Cryptozoology, of which he was the Secretary.
