The ikimizi is a forest lion reported from Rwanda's remote Virguna Volcano region. It is described a resembling a cross between a lion and a leopard, and has grey fur with dark spots, and a beard on its chin.[1][2][3]

Other forest lions include the bakanga, the bung-bung, the foulempou, the marozi, the ruturargo, and the uruturangwe. William Hichens thought the ikimizi was a regional name for the Nandi bear.
