The giant beaver is both a Coleman-Huyghe type of lake monster[1] and a cryptid in its own right,[2][3] reported from Canada and the United States. It is described as a beaver the size of a bear or a horse, and may represent either oversized North American beavers (Castor canadensis), or a survival of the Late Pleistocene giant beaver (Castoroides ohioensis).[1]
