Genyornis Nobu Tamura

It has been suggested that a living mihirung such as Genyornis, as drawn by Nobu Tamura, could explain the El Sherana bird.

The El Sherana bird or El Sharana bird was a cryptid giant flightless bird reported from the area around the El Sherana mine, Northern Territory, Australia.[1] It was described by herpetologist Richard Wells, who saw its tracks near El Sherana in 1977, as a large, nocturnal or crepuscular flightless bird. Wells speculated that it could be a tropical species of emu, or an undescribed population of cassowary, and Karl Shuker writes that another possible identity could be a mihirung such as Genyornis, although he notes that the description is simply not detailed enough to attempt a proper identification.[1]
