Country reported: Ecuador

The Ecuadorean ground sloth was a cryptid ground sloth reported from Ecuador once in the 1980's.[Expansion needed] It was described as 10 feet long with shaggy hair and a horselike snout, and walked on both two legs and four.[1] George Eberhart to suggests it may have been a surviving Megatherium,[2] instead of the usual Mylodon or megalonychid, presumably due to its size.

A colleague of Richard Greenwell reported seeing an animal "very much resembling a ground sloth" by a cave in Ecuador.[3]
