The chupacabra (Spanish: "blood sucker"), formerly called the chupacabras, is a cryptid reported broadly from Spanish-speaking regions of the Americas,[1] described by Javier Resines as existing "halfway between cryptozoology, ufology, conspiracy theory and urban legend".[2] The name has been applied to a variety of different cryptids and known animals, most commonly to blue dogs, which are usually found to be coyotes suffering from mange.[3]
