Charles William Hobley (1 June 1867 – 31 March 1947), known as Hobley Bobbly, was an English surveyor, colonial administrator, and conservationist who investigated several cryptids in British East Africa (now Kenya and Uganda), most prominently the Nandi bear, lukwata, and dingonek.[1][2] The longest-serving official in British East Africa, he also founded the East Africa and Uganda Natural History Society.
