South Sudan (officially the Republic of South Sudan) is a landlocked country in East-Central Africa, bordering Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and the Central African Republic. Languages spoken include English, Arabic, Bari, Dinka, Luo, Murle, Nuer, and Zande.

Due to its recent independence, many cryptids which are now reported from South Sudan are listed as beign reported from Sudan in pre-2011 sources. The most prominent cryptid of South Sudan is the lau, but there are others, including both tigres de montagne and water lions, giant hominids, and undescribed birds.
