Boneless or it was a cryptid reported from the Peak District in the United Kingdom, described as an enormous, black, slug-like creature somewhat resembling a whale.[1]

It was first reported by railwayman John Davies, who was riding his motorbike back home to Longdendale Valley when he felt, for seemingly no reason, a compulsion to break. As he did so, he saw what looked like a giant black slug crawling across the road and into the moor, making a scraping noise as it moved. Davies claimed it looked a little like a whale, and possessed an eye-like structure.[1] He dismounted to follow the animal, but could find no trace of it. He later said that:

...it was like a massive black slug sliding across t'road and up t'moor. It had a head just like a whale and a white eye with a black pupil going round and round.[2]

Davies later learnt that others in the area had seen it, including one of his friends, who claimed to have seen the animal sliding across the valley below Ogden Clough. Another of Davies' friends saw it in the same place on a different occasion.[1]

Karl Shuker considers it a zooform, and writes that there are folktales of similar creatures from across the United Kingdom.[1] The area around Longdendale also has a reputation for strange phenomena, including unexplained lights.
