Beast of Karoo Coudray

Illustration of the Beast of Karoo by Philippe Coudray in Guide des Animaux Cachés (2009).

The Beast of Karoo was a cryptid reptile reported from the Karoo Desert, near Loxton, in South Africa, in around 1946. It was observed by various motorists driving to and from Loxton, and was described as being about 3.65 metres long, with a thick, powerful tail. Philippe Coudray speculates it could have been some kind of giant monitor lizard.[1]
